MY Core Stance (The “Human-Made” Promise)

All of my core work is my own, original creation, by my human hands, including my graphic design work and all illustrations. I do not use AI to generate my main artwork or to write my content, for example, blog posts.

Where AI fits in BEHIND THE SCENES 

I do not use AI for the creation of my artwork, though it can be a beneficial tool to support my work. AI is occasionally used for some of the following purposed; research, fact-checking, proof-reading, as a thesaurus, creating reference images (with specific instruction) and generative fill.

Though it is becoming increasingly common for creatives to use AI for idea generation, I pride myself on my creativity and skills in ideation and concept. Just like my artwork, my ideas come from me.

This is not an exhaustive list but is intended to give a transparent indication of the ways in which AI may be used within my practice.

Visual Assets & Stock Imagery IN GRAPHIC DESIGN

This applies to individual, specific elements within the artwork and not the overall design work. This does not apply to my illustration work.

For graphic design projects, I create the overall piece from concept to layout and execution, however, specific supporting photographic assets may sometimes be AI-enhanced or AI-generated. This may be the case where replacement images have been used strictly for portfolio use, where the original asset cannot be used. Much of modern stock photography now also includes AI-generated elements, so where stock imagery is used, AI generation or alteration may also be present. Mockup templates sourced and used solely to display work, may also be created or altered by AI.

Clients sometimes supply their own assets, which may include AI imagery at their discretion. You can read more about this below. AI generated imagery may also be used where a client specifically requests this, in this case proper precautions will be taken to ensure there is no copyright risk.

Where imagery and/or copy supplied by clients is used, they retain all responsibility and liability for the responsible sourcing and creation of assets, ensuring they legally have the right under copyright law to use the images.

Under the extenuating circumstance that I require AI generated imagery to be able to complete a project, I want to reassure any future, existing or potential clients that this is done intentionally, in context, and always with their explicit request or permission and prior discussion. 

Certain projects shown in this portfolio may feature brands or client trademarks. Ownership of those specific commercial assets remains with the respective clients or companies.
